Fraternity for Indian Artists in Musical Professions
The official language of Afghanistan is termed as Pashto. Thus, the
musical tunes of this region are termed as Pashto music in general.
Prior to the 1980s a number of singers and musicians had created some
memorable records that have been heard the world over. However, post the
1980s this nation has been in the midst of constant violence that has
suppressed the recordings of music to the bare minimum.
Amongst notable afghan singers was Ahmad Zahir. Parwin was the first female singer to perform live on radio. Another singer, who achieved milestones in her singing career, was Farida Mahwash, who was popular for her Pashto songs in the genre of pop.
On the classical front, the music is termed as klasik. The classical compositions include instrumental and vocal ragas. There are also the Tarana and Ghazals.
